ABOUT
Yaxuan Bian
Liatris Yaxuan Bian is a UK-based artist, designer and maker whose practice spans jewellery, objects and material-led research. With a strong foundation in fine art and drawing, she approaches making as both a process of observation and a form of visual thinking, allowing each project to evolve through sketching, experimentation and craftsmanship.
Graduating from the Glasgow School of Art in 2026 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design, Bian's practice extends beyond jewellery into a broader exploration of material, form and narrative. She is deeply committed to craft and technical excellence, continually expanding her knowledge across disciplines including metal, ceramics and glass. For Bian, each material possesses its own language, and understanding that language is central to her creative process.
Inspired by the natural world and the overlooked details of everyday life, Bian translates biological structures and organic phenomena into contemporary forms. Her work is characterised by layered compositions, modular construction and a geometric design language that balances precision with fluidity. Through the combination of traditional craftsmanship and experimental making, she creates works that exist between art, design and wearable objects.
